Ideato North

Ideato North local government area is in Imo state, South-east geopolitical zone of Nigeria. The headquarters of the LGA are in the town of Urualla and the area consists of towns and villages such as Isiokpo, Osina, Akpulu, Akokwa, Ezemazi, Eluama, Ezihe, Obodo-ukwu, and Akokwa. Ideato North LGA shares borders with Umuchu town in Anambra state and has an estimated population of 156,782 inhabitants with the majority of the area’s dwellers bein members of the Igbo ethnic group. The Igbo and English languages are widely spoken in the LGA while Christianity is the commonly practiced religion in the area. Popular festivals held in Ideato North LGA include the New Yam festival.

Ideato North LGA covers a total area of 42 square kilometres and has an average temperature of 27 degrees centigrade. The average humidity level in the area is 64 percent while the average wind speed in the LGA is 9 km/h.

ECONOMY OF IDEATO NORTH

Farming is the major occupation of the people of Ideato North LGA with crops such as yam, cassava, oil palm, and vegetables grown in the area. The LGA also hosts a number of markets such as the Orie market in Akokwa and these markets provide veritable platforms for the exchange of a variety of goods and services. Ideato LGA also hosts a number of Banks, Hotels, and relaxation spots.
