Oron local government area is found in Akwa Ibom state, South-south geopolitical zone of Nigeria. The LGA is made up of several towns and villages such as Afaha Okpo, Etta, Afaha Oki-uso, Ihie, Ebughu, Effiat, Esin Ufot, and Esuk Oro. The LGA has a current estimated population of 134,562 inhabitants with the area majorly populated by members of the Oron ethnic group. The Oron language is extensively spoken in the LGA while the religion of Christianity is widely practiced in the LGA. The Paramount traditional ruler in Oron LGA is known as the Ahta Oro while notable landmarks in the LGA include the Methodist Boys High School which is one of the oldest secondary schools in Nigeria.
