Esit Eket local government area is in Akwa Ibom state, Southsouth geopolitical zone of Nigeria. The LGA is bordered by Ibeno, Eket and Nsit Ubium LGAs while the headquarters of Esit Eket are in the town of Uquo. Towns and villages that make up Esit Eket LGA include Uqua, Etebi, Urua Okok, Mbakuyo, Idung Ita, Akwaita, Akpautong, and Idung Assam. The population of Esit Eket LGA is estimated at 82,098 inhabitants with the area mainly inhabited by the Eket people. The Ekid dialect is predominantly spoken in the area while Christianity is the most practiced religion in the area. The two major clans that make up Esit Eket LGA are the Eket Offiong and the Eket Afaha clans while popular festivals celebrated in Esit Eket LGA include the Ekpe masquerade festival.
Esit Eket LGA is situated off the shores of the Atlantic ocean and exhibits features of the Mangrove swamp forest.
