Ado- Ekiti is a local government area as well as being the capital of Ekiti state located in the Southwest geopolitical zone of Nigeria. Home to Nigeria’s Yoruba tribe, the LGA has an estimated population of 946,659 inhabitants. The dominant religions in Ado-Ekiti are Christianity and Islam while popular City landmarks include the Afe Babalola University.
Ado -Ekiti LGA has a total area measuring 293 km squared and falls under the tropical savanna climate. The topography features coarse grained charnockite, medium and fine grained granite with substantial deposits of clay and quartzite.

Ado-ekiti’s history can be traced to as early as 1310 A.D when Ewi Awamaro migrated to and settled in the region.
