Atisbo local government area is one of the thirty three LGAs that make up Oyo state in the Southwest geopolitical zone of Nigeria. With its headquarters in the town of Teele, Atisbo LGA is made up of several towns and villages which include Ago Are, Irawo, Sabe, Tede, Baasi, Ofiki, and Owo. Atisbo LGA shares boundaries with Orire LGA, Republic of Benin, Saki east LGA, and the Itesibeaju LGA. Atisbo LGA is home to the Yoruba people and has the Yoruba and English languages spoken extensively in the area. Christianity and Islam are widely practiced in the area while popular festivals such as the Masquerade festival are held in the area periodically.
Atisbo LGA covers a total area of 2,997 square kilometres and has two major seasons which are the rainy and dry seasons. The average temperature of the area is put at 28 degrees centigrade while the humidity is estimated at 61 percent.
Atisbo LGA has substantially large amounts of coloured granite deposits in the town of Irawo. Also, agriculture provides a veritable means of livelihood for the area’s inhabitants with a plethora of crops such as cocoa, melon, and coconut grown in the area.
