Ibadan South West

Ibadan southwest is a local government area found in the city of Ibadan, Oyo state, which is in the Southwest geopolitical division of Nigeria. The headquarters of the LGA are in the Oluyole estate district of Ibadan with the LGA made up of districts such as Ring road, Oke Ado, Isale-osi, Oke-bola gege and Oluyole estate. Ibadan Southwest LGA shares borders with Ibadan Northwest, Ido, Ibadan North, and Ibadan southeast LGAs. The estimated population of Ibadan Southwest LGA is 190,672 inhabitants with the area hosting members of diverse tribes chief of which is the Yoruba ethnic group. The Yoruba language is the majorly spoken language in the area while the religions of Christianity and Islam are commonly practiced in the LGA. Notable landmarks in Ibadan Southwest LGA include Bamdex farms, Vital foods Nigeria Limited, and the Nicort Cultural Center.

Ibadan Southwest LGA covers a total area of 40 square kilometres and has an average temperature of 28 degrees centigrade. The average humidity level of the area is 61 percent while the total annual precipitation of the LGA is 2100 mm of rainfall. Ibadan Southwest LGA witnesses two distinct seasons which are the dry and the rainy seasons.

Ibadan southwest LGA was created on the 27th of August 1991 from the defunct Ibadan Municipal Area.
