The headquarters of the area are in Onireke district of Ibadan city and the LGA shares borders with Ido, Ibadan southwest, Ibadan northeast, and Ibadan southeast local government areas. A number of districts make up Ibadan Northwest LGA and these include Onireke, Ologuneru, Ayeye, Dugbe, Inalnde, and Ogunpa. The estimated population of Ibadan Northwest LGA is 195,300 inhabitants with the area majorly populated by members of the Yoruba ethnic division. The Christian and Islam religions are widely practiced in the area while the Yoruba language is extensively spoken in the LGA. Notable landmarks in Ibadan Northwest LGA include the office of the Nigerian Railway Corporation and Ibadan School of Nursing.
