Ibadan Northeast local government area is situated in Oyo state, Southwest geopolitical zone of Nigeria. The LGA has its headquarters in Iwo road area of Ibadan city and the LGA comprises a number of districts such as Orita Bashorun street, Iyaganku GRA, Iwo road, Total Garden Area, and Monatan. Ibadan Northeast LGA shares boundaries with Egbeda, Ona-ara, Ibadan North, Lagelu, Akinyele and Ibadan Southeast LGAs. The estimated population of Ibadan Northeast is 199,444 inhabitants with the majority of the area’s inhabitants being members of the Yoruba ethnic group. The Yoruba and English languages are widely spoken in the area while Islam and Christianity are the commonly practiced religions in the LGA.
Ibadan Northeast LGA is an urban area and occupies a total area of 18 square kilometres and has an average temperature of 28 degrees centigrade. The average humidity level of the area is 61 percent while the total annual precipitation of the LGA is 2100 mm of rainfall.
Ibadan Northeast LGA hosts the popular Araromi Spare parts market which is the largest motor spare parts market in the state. The LGA also hosts several banks, hotels, and relaxation spots. Several public and private institutions are also domiciled in the area.
Ibadan Northeast LGA was created on the 27th day of August 1991 from the defunct Ibadan Municipal area.
