The headquarters of the LGA are in the town of Shani with the LGA comprising of several towns and villages such as Shani, Kubo, Lakundum, Kombo, Dumbuku, Bargu, Kabara, and Gwaskara. The LGA has an estimated population of 245,358 inhabitants with the LGA mostly inhabited by members of the Babur Bura and Kanakuru ethnic groups.
