Borgu local government area is found in Niger state, Northcentral Nigeria. The headquarters of the LGA are domiciled in the town of New Bussa and comprises several towns and villages which include Wawa, Abdullahi, Gbebara, Gunangwu, Konkoso, Sabon, Kaunkpe, and Godebe. Borgu is home to the prestigious Borgu Emirate with the Emir being the traditional administrator of the area. The Boko, Kambari, and Busa etnic groups are the most populous in the area with their respective languages spoken extensively in the area. Islam and Christianity are the commonly practiced religion in the area. A number of colourful festivals are held in Borgu LGA and these include the Ganni festival while the area has a number of landmarks which include the Borgu Game Reserve and the Kainji National park.
Borgu LGA witnesses two major seasons which are the dry and the rainy seasons. Average humidity of the area is put at 38 percent while the average wind speed in Borgu LGA is 13 km/h. The area has an average temperature of 30 degrees centigrade.
Borgu LGA has a rich agricultural heritage and is known for the cultivation of a variety of crops such as millet, sorghum, rice and yam. Other important economic activities in the area are hunting, pottery, and trade.
