Wushishi

Wushishi local goevernment area is domiciled in Niger state, North-central geopolitical division of Nigeria. The headquarters of the LGA are in the town of Wushishi and the LGA is made up of several towns and villages which include Kwankwagi, Pasa, Tunkunji, Ushiba, Yamigi, Matajuja, Gudi, Fugagi, Girin, and Buzu. The total estimated population of Wushishi LGA is put at 229,449 inhabitants with the area occupied by members of diverse ethnic groups which include the Kambari. The Kambari language is one of the spoken languages in Wushishi LGA while the religions of Islam and Christianity are practiced in the area. Notable landmarks in Wushishi LGA include the Zungeru Primary School which was attended by the renowned Nationalist, Nnamdi Azikiwe; the Zungeru Railway station, and the Niger state Polytechnic campus.

Wushishi LGA sits on a total area of 1,879 square kilometres and has an average temperature of 32 degrees centigrade. The LGA witnesses two major seasons which are the dry and the rainy seasons with the average humidity level in the area put at 31 percent.

ECONOMY OF WUSHISHI

Wushishi LGA has a vibrant agricultural sector and is known for the cultivation of a variety of crops which include yams, onions, and tomatoes. The LGA is also known for the rearing and sales of a number of domestic animals. Other important economic enterprises undertaken by the people of Wushishi LGA include pottery, trade, and blacksmithing.
