Rijau local government area is found in Niger state, North-central geopolitical zone of Nigeria and has its headquarters in the town of Rijau. Towns and villages that make up Rijau LGA include Ayawu, Gazuma, Rimi, Masuga, Takalifiya,Tukura, Utamba, and Abonu. The current estimated population of Rijau LGA is put at 239,082 inhabitants with the area hosting members of the Kambari and the Dukawa ethnic affiliations. The Kambari and Dukawa languages are spoken in the LGA while the religions of Islam and Christianity are widely practiced in the area. Prominent traditional rulers in Rijau LGA include the Sarkin Bauchi of Rijau.
