About Ardo Kola Local Government Area (L.G.A)

Ardo Kola local government area is located in Taraba state, Northcentral Nigeria. With the headquarter of the LGA in the town of Sunkani, Ardo Kola comprises a number of towns and villages which include Iware, Jiru, Mallum, Sunkani, Tau, Zongon-kombi, and Sarkin-Dutse. The population of the area is estimated at 103,555 inhabitants with popular ethnic affiliations being the Hausa and Fulani.

The widely spoken languages in Ardo kola LGA are the Hausa and fufulde languages while Islam and Christianity are the commonly practiced religions. Ardo kola has a vibrant cultural aspect with prominent festivals such as the Sharo festival and the Nyawata dance festival celebrated periodically within the area.

Ardo kola LGA covers a total area of 2,262 square kilometres and has two distinct seasons; the rainy and the dry seasons. The average humidity of the area is 28 percent with average temperature estimated at 32 degrees centigrade.


ECONOMY OF ARDO KOLA

The people of Ardo Kola are known to engage in a number of economic enterprises which include Agriculture, pottery, cloth weaving, cattle rearing, mat making, and blacksmithing. Commerce also thrives within the area with markets such as the Cattle market at Iware and the Tau Central market.
