Jalingo

Jalingo local government area is a local government area and the capital city of Taraba state, Northcentral geopolitical zone of Nigeria. The headquarters of the LGA are in the town of Jalingo and the LGA is made up of several towns and villages such as Yamusala, Gamyel, Askarawa, Dogo, Kalanko, Saurara, Hamdella, and Magani. The estimated population of Jalingo LGA is 241,590 inhabitants with the most prominent tribes in the area being the Fulani and the Mumuye. The Fufulde, Hausa and Mumuye languages are commonly spoken in the LGA while Christianity and Islam are the widely practiced religions in the area. Notable landmarks in Jalingo LGA include the Government House and the Jalingo Airport.

Farming is also popular especially within the outskirts of the LGA with crops such as rice, melon, and millet grown in large quantities. Trade also flourishes in Jalingo LGA with the area hosting several markets such as the Gadar Bobboji market where a variety of commodities are bought and sold.
