Zing local government area is in Taraba state, North-central geopolitical zone of Nigeria. The headquarters of the LGA are in the town of Zing and the area hosts the Zing Emirate. Zing LGA is made up of several towns and villages which include Debambu, Dossa, Kwana, Bugong, Bitaka, Yakoko, Lemman, Dinding, and Monkin. The estimated population of Zing LGA is put at 215,600 inhabitants with the area majorly hosting members of the Mumuye ethnic group. The Mumuye language is commonly spoken in the LGA while the religions of Christianity and Islam are widely practiced in the area. A number of festivals such as the Belle and the New Yam festivals are held in Zing LGA while the notable landmarks found in the area include the General Hospital Zing and the Emir’s Palace.
Zing LGA occupies a total area of 1,030 square kilometres and has an average temperature of 29 degrees centigrade. The LGA has some forest reserves and an average wind speed of 10km/h.
Farming is an important occupation of the dwellers of Zing LGA with crops such as Yam, maize, onions, salads and tomatoes grown in the area. Trade also flourishes in the LGA with the area hosting a number of markets where a variety of commodities are bought and sold. Other important economic activities in Zing LGA include hunting and animal rearing.
