Bebeji local government area is situated in Kano state which is found in the Northwest geopolitical zone of Nigeria. The headquarters of Bebeji LGA are in the town of Bebeji and comprises of several towns and villages which include Kofa, Gargai, Baguda, Duramawa, Kuki, Yakun, Yanshere, and Damau. The population of Bebeji LGA is estimated at 179,254 inhabitants with the vast majority being members of the Hausa and Fulani. The dominant religious affiliation in Bebeji LGA is Islam while the fufulde and Hausa languages are widely spoken in the area. Popular landmarks in Bebeji include the ancient Habe Mosque and the Film village in Kofa.
Bebeji LGA covers a total area of 717 square kilometres and features two distinct seasons; the dry and the rainy seasons with the dry season in the area characterized by high temperatures. The average temperature of the area is put at 33 degrees centigrade while humidity level is at 13 percent.
Agriculture is an important aspect of the economic life of Bebeji LGA with crops such as rice, millet, beans and irish potatoes. Commerce is also a key feature of Bebeji’s economy with the area being home to several markets which include the Kantin kwari market. Other important sources of income for the inhabitants of Bebeji include blacksmithing, pottery, and hunting.
