Dawaki Tofa

Dawakin Tofa is a local government area is in Kano state, Northwest geopolitical zone of Nigeria. The headquarters of the area are in the town of Dawaki and comprises several towns and villages such as Dandalama, Jobenkun, Yelwa, Bagari, Alajawa, Bankaura, Rumi, and Kaleku. The population of Dawakin Tofa LGA is estimated at 153,607 inhabitants with the most prominent tribes being the Hausa and the Fulani ethnic divisions. The religion of Islam is the widely practiced faith in the area with the Hausa and the Fufulde languages spoken extensively in the area. Popular landmarks in DawakinTofa include the Dawakin Tofa Science College and the Dawakin Tofa General Hospital.

Dawakin Tofa LGA sits on a total area of 479 square kilometres and witnesses two major seasons which are the dry and the rainy seasons. The average temperature of the area is put at 34 degrees centigrade while the humidity level of the area is at 15 percent. Dawakin Tofa LGA has an average wind speed of 7 km/h.

ECONOMY OF DAWAKI TOFA

Dawakin Tofa is home to the renowned Kwakwaci mechanic village which is the largest mechanic village in the entire Northern Nigeria. The LGA also hosts a number of markets such as the Dawanau Market where thousands of buyers and sellers meet to transact business. Crop cultivation is a major occupation of the people of Dawakin Tofa with crops such as millet, groundnut, and soyabeans grown in large quantities in the area. Other important economic activities in Dawkin Tofa are pottery, textile dyeing and cattle rearing.
