Gabasawa local government area is located in Kano state which is in the Northwest geopolitical division of Nigeria. The headquarters of the area are in the town of Zakirai while the towns and villages that make up the LGA include Chikawa, Gumawa, Joda, Mekiya, Zango, Tofai, Mazangudu, and Guruma. The population of Gabasawa LGA is estimated at 173,644 inhabitants with the vast majority of the area’s populace being members of the Hausa and Fulani ethnic divisions. The Fufulde and Hausa languages are widely spoken in the area while Islam is the commonly practiced religion in the LGA.
