Gabasawa

Gabasawa local government area is located in Kano state which is in the Northwest geopolitical division of Nigeria. The headquarters of the area are in the town of Zakirai while the towns and villages that make up the LGA include Chikawa, Gumawa, Joda, Mekiya, Zango, Tofai, Mazangudu, and Guruma. The population of Gabasawa LGA is estimated at 173,644 inhabitants with the vast majority of the area’s populace being members of the Hausa and Fulani ethnic divisions. The Fufulde and Hausa languages are widely spoken in the area while Islam is the commonly practiced religion in the LGA.

ECONOMY OF GABASAWA

A number of Crops are cultivated in Gabasawa LGA and these include groundnuts, millet, sorghum, and soyabeans. The area also has a vibrant trade sector and hosts several markets where a plethora of commodities are bought and sold. Other important economic enterprises engaged in by the people of Gabasawa LGA include cattle rearing, metal works and textile weaving and dyeing.
