Kabo

Kabo local government area is one of the fourty-four local government areas found in Kano state, North-west Nigeria. The headquarters of the LGA are in the town of Kabo with the LGA made up of a number of towns and villages such as Yadau, Walawa, Gabasawa, Gadiya, Kanya, Baskore, Hauwade, and Kazo. The estimated population of Kabo LGA is put at 212,348 inhabitants with the vast majority of the area’s inhabitants being members of the Hausa and the Fulani ethnic groups. The Hausa and the Fufulde languages are extensively spoken in the area while Islam is the widely practiced religion in the LGA. Notable landmarks in Kabo LGA include the Kabo Forest Reserves.

GEOGRAPHY OF KABO

Kabo LGA covers a total area of 341 square kilmometers and has an average temperature of 34 degrees centigrade. The LGA witnesses two distinct seasons which are the dry and the rainy seasons with the dry seasons lasting for much longer periods than the rainy seasons. The average wind speed in Kabo LGA is 10 km/h while the area has large forest reserves.

ECONOMY OF KABO

Farming is an important aspect of the economy of Kabo LGA with a variety of crops such as rice and sorghum grown in the area. The LGA also hosts several markets where a variety of commodities are bought and sold. Also, a number of animals such as camels and horses are reared and sold in Kabo LGA. Other important economic activities engaged in by dwellers of Kabo LGA include hunting and pottery.
