Fagge local government area is in Kano state, Northwest geopolitical zone of Nigeria and has its headquarters in the town of Waje. Fagge LGA is bordered by Ungogo, Nasarawa, Kano municipal, and Dala LGAs. Several towns and villages make up Fagge LGA and these include Nomansland, Kwakwaci, Gama-kwari, Kurna, Dan-Rimi, Kwacirin Dikko, Kwacirin Jobe, Alfa and Sabon Gari. The population of Faagge LGA is estimated at 205,457 inhabitants with the majority of the area’s inhabitants being members of the Hausa and Fulani ethnic groups although members of other tribes also have large representation in the area especially the Igbo. The Hausa language is commonly spoken in the area while Islam is the LGA’s most practiced religion.
Fagge LGA covers a total area of 21 square kilometres and witnesses two distinct seasons which are the dry and the rainy seasons with the dry season in the area often characterized by very high temperatures. The average temperature of Fagge LGA is put at 33 degrees centigrade while the average humidity of the LGA is put at 28 percent.
Trade is the major economic activity in Fagge LGA with the area hosting the Sabon Gari market which is the largest market in Kano state. Agriculture is another critical economic feature in Fagge LGA with the area known for the cultivation of a number of crops such as millet, rice, soyabean, and sorghum. Other important economic activities in the area include pottery, hunting, and textile weaving and dyeing.
Fagge LGA was created on the 4th of December 1996 from the Nasarawa local government area.
