Zango

Zango local government area is situated in Katsina state, North-west geopolitical zone of Nigeria. The headquarters of the LGA are in the town of Zango and the LGA shares boundaries with parts of the Niger Republic. Towns and villages that make up Zango LGA include Badake, Dargage, Gwamba, Kanda, Walawa, Zango, Yardade, Sara, and Rogogo. The estimated population of Zango LGA is put at 169,532 inhabitants with the area primarily occupied by members of the Hausa/Fulani ethnic groups. The Hausa and the Fufulde languages are commonly spoken in the LGA while the religion of Islam is extensively practiced in the area. Notable landmarks in Zango LGA include the Government Girls Boarding Secondary School in Rogogo.

Zango LGA occupies a total area of 601 square kilometres and has an average temperature of 34 degrees centigrade. The LGA witnesses two distinct seasons which are the dry and the rainy seasons with the average humidity level of the area put at 21 percent.

ECONOMY OF ZANGO

Zango LGA is a hub for trade with the area hosting several markets where a plethora of commodities are bought and sold. A number of animals are also reared and sold in the area. Other important economic activities in Zango LGA include farming, hunting, pottery, blacksmithing, and food processing.

HISTORY OF ZANGO

Zango LGA was created in the year 1989.
