Gudu

Gudu local government area is in Sokoto state which is situated in the Northwest geopolitical enclave of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The LGA has its headquarters in the town of Balle and shares borders with the Republic of Niger. Towns and villages that make up Gudu LGA include Boto, Bachaka, Wababi, Salau, Makaya, Gwazanye, Kurdala, and Tsafanade. The estimated population of Gudu LGA is 143,515 inhabitants with the vast majority of the area’s populace comprising of people from the Hausa and the Fulani ethnic divisions. The Hausa and Fufulde languages are extensively spoken in Gudu LGA while Islam is the commonly practiced religion in the area. Notable landmarks in Gudu LGA include the Dan Fodio Mosque in Kwato.

Gudu LGA occupies a total area of 3,478 square kilometres and witnesses two distinct seasons which are the dry and the rainy seasons. The average temperature in the area is 33 degrees centigrade while the average humidity level of the area is at 19 percent.

ECONOMY OF GUDU

Farming is the major occupation of the people of Gudu LGA with crops such as Soyabeans, onions, tomatoes, and groundnut grown in the area. Gudu LGA is also a hub for the rearing of a number of animals such as cows, rams, donkeys, and camels. The LGA also hosts a number of markets where a variety of commodities are bought and sold.
