Tureta

Tureta local government area is domiciled in Sokoto state, North-west geopolitical zone of Nigeria. The LGA has its headquarters in the town of Tureta with the LGA sharing borders with parts of Zamfara state. Towns and villages that make up Tureta LGA include Bimasa, Lofa, Dorawa, Duma, Kawara, Kuruwa, Budda, Tureta, and Ruga. The estimated population of Tureta LGA is put at 141,702 inhabitants with the LGA majorly occupied by members of the Hausa/Fulani ethnic groups. The Hausa language is commonly spoken in Tureta LGA while the religion of Islam is extensively practiced in the area. Notable landmarks in Tureta LGA include the Government Secondary School Tureta.

GEOGRAPHY OF TURETA

Tureta LGA covers a total area of 2,383 square kilometres and has an average temperature of 34 degrees centigrade. The LGA experiences two major seasons which are the dry and the rainy seasons with the dry seasons in the area usually charcaterized by very hot weather.

ECONOMY OF TURETA

Trade is an important feature of the economy of Tureta LGA with the area hosting a number of markets such as the Tureta central market where a wide variety of commodities are bought and sold. A number of domestic animals such as cows, goats, donkeys, and camels are also reared and sold in the area. The dwellers of Tureta LGA are also engaged in economic activities such as hunting, farming, and leather works.
