Illela local government area is in Sokoto state which is situated in the Northwest geopolitical zone of Nigeria. The headquarters of the LGA are in the town of Illela with the LGA sharing an international border with the Niger Republic. Towns and villages that make up Illela LGA include Gidan Hamma, Kalmalo, Tozai, Gadan, Dango, Araba, Ketti, Tarke, and Damba. The estimated population of Illela LGA is 135,098 inhabitants with the majority of the area’s dwellers being members of the Hausa and the Fulani ethnic groups. The Hausa language is extensively spoken in the area while the religion of Islam is widely practiced in the area.
